Forschungsinteressen

Allgemeine Forschungsschwerpunkte der Nachwuchsgruppen Schetelig sind die Entwicklungsbiologie, die Entwicklung von Schädlingsbekämpfungssystemen und die Evaluierung/Vergleich von transgenen Systemen zur Verbesserung des integrierten Pflanzenschutzes.

Prof. Schetelig leitet zwei Nachwuchsgruppen in Gießen:

Die Emmy-Noether-Gruppe, gefördert durch die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, befasst sich mit der Risikoabschätzung und Evaluierung von transgenen Insekten an der Justus-Liebig Universität Gießen.

Eine unabhängige »Fraunhofer Attract« Gruppe wird durch die Fraunhofer Gesellschaft gefördert. Diese befasst sich am Fraunhofer Institut für Molekularbiologie und Angewandte Ökologie (IME) mit der Entwicklung von neuen Technologien zur Schädlingsbekämpfung von invasiven Fruchtfliegen wie z.B. der Kirschessigfliege, Drosophila suzukii.
