Forschungsinteressen

Allgemeine Forschungsschwerpunkte der Professur Schetelig sind die Entwicklungsbiologie, die Entwicklung von Schädlingsbekämpfungssystemen und die Evaluierung/Vergleich von transgenen Systemen zur Verbesserung des integrierten Pflanzenschutzes. Zusätzlich sind wir an Risikoforschung und sicherheitsrelevanten Aspekten z.B. im Feld des Gene Editing und von Gene Drives interessiert.

Prof. Schetelig leitet noch zwei Nachwuchsgruppen in Gießen:

Die Emmy-Noether-Gruppe, gefördert durch die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, die sich mit der Risikoabschätzung und Evaluierung von transgenen Insekten an der Justus-Liebig Universität Gießen befasst.

Sowie eine »Fraunhofer Attract« Gruppe, die durch die Fraunhofer Gesellschaft gefördert wird. Diese befasst sich am Fraunhofer Institut für Molekularbiologie und Angewandte Ökologie (IME) mit der Entwicklung von neuen Technologien zur Schädlingsbekämpfung von invasiven Fruchtfliegen wie z.B. der Kirschessigfliege, Drosophila suzukii.
