Forschungsinteressen

In meiner Forschung untersuche ich die chemische Kommunikation und Interaktion zwischen Insekten – von grundlegenden Mechanismen und evolutionären Prozessen bis zu angewandten Aspekten.

Die Kommunikation über chemische Substanzen ist sehr wahrscheinlich die älteste und am weitesten verbreitete Form von Kommunikation, die von Bakterien, Pilzen, Pflanzen und dem gesamten Tierreich verwendet wird. In meiner Forschung verwende ich mehrere Modellorganismen um die Mechanismen von chemischer Kommunikation zu entschlüsseln, aber auch die evolutionären Ursprünge und die Evolution von chemischen Signalen zu verstehen. Dieses Wissen stellt die Basis für angewandte Aspekte der chemischen Ökologie da.

Zur Beantwortung dieser Fragen verwende ich ein breites Spektrum an Methoden, wie zum Beispiel chemische Analysen, Elektrophysiologie, molekulare Methoden (DNA, RNA) oder Verhaltensexperimente.
